# Business profile

> Manage a business identity, linked accounts, eligibility, cover media, and compliance details.

Linked Business App profile methods read and change the connected account.
The Graph business-profile methods return saved profile fields for Linked Devices
and simulated numbers. They do not read or change the WhatsApp profile of a real
Cloud API number.

## Linked Business App profile

Start with [Get own business profile](/api-reference/messaging/business-profiles/get-own-business-profile?playground=open). The response can include description, address, email, websites, business hours, categories, cover-photo ID, and profile options returned by WhatsApp.

[Update linked business profile](/api-reference/messaging/business-profiles/update-linked-business-profile?playground=open) changes only supplied fields. Empty values clear supported optional fields. Business hours use a time zone, weekday, mode, and minutes after midnight.

### Profile request rules

| Fields or mode | Accepted input |
| - | - |
| Profile update | At least one supported profile field is required. An empty update is rejected. |
| `hours.days` | Include each weekday at most once. |
| `specific_hours` | Both `openTime` and `closeTime` are required and must be different. Each is an integer from 0 through 1439 minutes after midnight. |
| `open_24h` or `appointment_only` | Omit `openTime` and `closeTime`. |
| `websites[]` | Use an absolute HTTP or HTTPS URL. |
| Cover photo | Set exactly one of `url` or `base64`. An empty request or both sources together are rejected. The decoded or downloaded image accepts at most 5 MiB. |

## Linked accounts and eligibility

[Get business linked accounts](/api-reference/messaging/business-profiles/get-business-linked-accounts?playground=open) reads linked Facebook, Instagram, advertising, and catalog identities when WhatsApp returns them.

[Get business eligibility](/api-reference/messaging/business-profiles/get-business-eligibility?playground=open) reports upstream account eligibility. It does not grant a Polymorfa entitlement.

Both are live lookups. They do not enable background profile tracking.

## Merchant compliance

[Get merchant compliance](/api-reference/messaging/business-profiles/get-business-merchant-compliance?playground=open) reads the connected account's legal entity and customer-care contacts. [Update merchant compliance](/api-reference/messaging/business-profiles/set-business-merchant-compliance?playground=open) replaces the complete record.

Compliance strings are trimmed before validation. Entity names, custom entity
types, and grievance-officer names accept at most 256 UTF-8 bytes; email accepts
at most 254 UTF-8 bytes; landline and mobile numbers accept at most 64 UTF-8
bytes each.

WhatsApp controls whether an account and region can edit these details. An upstream rejection leaves the existing record unchanged.

## Graph business-profile compatibility

For a Linked Devices or simulated number, [Get business profile](/api-reference/graph/business-profiles/get-business-profile?playground=open)
returns saved fields and [Update saved business profile](/api-reference/graph/business-profiles/update-saved-business-profile?playground=open)
changes them. A real Cloud API number receives capability error `131026` from
either method; the request does not reach WhatsApp.
